Blog posts : "Releases"

LOGistICAL: USA - Oregon

It has been a busy week with two releases coming out as well as a bunch of backend updates.

The first release is:

LOGistICAL: USA - Oregon

LOGistICAL: USA - Oregon extends LOGistICAL across the states of the USA.

LOGistICAL: USA - Oregon is a smaller game module specifically designed to help new players play the LOGistICAL world without getting too overwhelmed.
New players should still do the tutorial (Flinders Island near Tasmania, Australia) and The Isle of Man (between England and Ireland) module, both included for free with every release.

LOGistICAL: USA - Oregon is not just for the beginner. There are over 300 towns to complete and plenty of puzzling strategies to work through.

Updates

There is a lot of backend work that doesn't show much, so here is the short list of obvious changes.

* New save and callback routine. This is not the complete solution to the upcoming save functionality.
* Speed ups for 50, 100, 150 and 200 towns completed. With new releases getting speedups is not always easy and available, so now generic contracts across all the modules gives you up to 8x speed (not to mention the one at the end of the Isle of Man).

Coming Soon

The next module, LOGistICAL: Norway, will also be out later this week.

LOGistICAL: USA - Florida

LOGistICAL: USA - Florida is now available and will be discounted for the first week of release.

* Deliver Cape Canaveral's long list of needs.
* Sort out the fishing quarantine issues along the Florida Keys
* Build you own industries to sort out the fruit and vegetable quarantine areas
* Supply and finish many large cities
* Work your way through the long complex maze of road enhancements to finally allow all your large trucks access across the state
* Many, many other small and large puzzles and situations to complete.

LOGistICAL: USA - Florida brings you all the fun and puzzling of LOGistICAL with even more towns, more puzzles and much more to do.

THIS GAME DOES NOT REQUIRE THE ORIGINAL LOGISTICAL GAME TO PLAY.

Over 700 towns to Complete.
LOGistICAL: USA - Florida game covers the US state of Florida including cities like Tallahassee, Orlando, Miami, Tamp, Jacksonville and the Keys.
There are many new obstacles and deliveries to make.

LOGistICAL: USA - Florida is an independent, standalone game independent from the main LOGistICAL game (and other add-ons).
It has its own money, trucks and of course, challenges.

Updates for all Modules

With the release of Florida comes a few new updates.

LOGistICAL: Italy

LOGistICAL: Italy will be available on the 22nd Aug 2017.

LOGistICAL: Italy is a complex beast adding some new stuff to LOGistICAL, including new town icons (ignore that this image is not properly placed when this screenshot was taken),

LOGistICAL: Italy has been co-designed with Marco Calcaterra (desangre), a local to the region. He not only placed all the industries, but also contributed to a nice complex puzzle using quarantine, islands and a north/south theme. He is now working on translating the game into Italian.

LOGistICAL: Italy creates a great thinking module, so relax and enjoy.

Build Update

There have been quite a few smaller fixes and builds since the LOGistICAL: British Isles release.

* Creation of "Global" contracts. First example is getting a 2x speedup after completing 50 towns. Now this exists as a global contract and is therefore available in all modules whether you are playing LOGistICAL, British Isles or Italy, etc.

* The map that has been fixed to not scroll beyond the "flat earth" boundaries, has been extended East/West so zooming doesn't drag the map to the left or right of the screen when playing on the outer edges (eg New Zealand and Hawaii).

* Green outlines and shading for the level 3 industries on the Industry and Build screens, so they stand out more.

* Mouse over popup on the build industries to include the size of the industry you are selecting to build, as you move your mouse up and down over the icon.

* Fix on NL to not show both appox and detailed outlines.

* Night/Day transition and texture maps optimised.

* Fix to stop the main globe from going green/blue screen if you click outside the globe.

* Town rarity column on the Statistical LOGistICAL popup (click the total trophies icon to the left of the money). This rarity value is a comparative of how many players have managed to gain that achievement.
This rarity value is from Steam so will only show what is available on whichever module you are playing.

* Load game sometimes doesn't show data. This tends to happen if you load quickly after closing the game and Steam is still in the process of synchronising the save game files. This can get slower if you have a large game and also if you have a huge list of games in your list.

LOGistICAL will create a new save game for you every day, but you are responsible for reducing the amount of games that exist in that list. You will need to use the delete button next to the copy and load buttons. If you try to remove them with your windows explorer, they will sync back from the cloud.

* A couple of fixes and image enhancements of the Statistical LOGistICAL screen.

* Bunch of minor back-end fixes.

LOGistICAL chat

* Created a live Chat on Discord, so you can talk with other logistical players. Learn from those experienced players and I will also try to be there a lot.

Beta Testing

This build will be available for beta testing over the next few hours on both LOGistICAL and LOGistICAL: British Isles.

Thanks for playing.

LOGistICAL: British Isles

Updated information on LOGistICAL: British Isles (L:BI).

Naming convention

"LOGistICAL" - the original game which will remain up to date as the others.
"LOGistICAL - moduleWithDash" - an add-on DLC that requires the original game to play.
"LOGistICAL: moduleWithColon" - an independent game that doesn't require the original game to play.

LOGistICAL: British Isles (L:BI)

L:BI is a new fully functioning LOGistICAL game that runs independent to the current LOGistICAL game and its DLCs.

L:BI contains a new tutorial. Much larger than the old one. This tutorial will replace the current tutorials on all games. Achievements for this tutorial will only be available in the L:BI game.

Beta testers have been test playing L:BI for a while now. The game is working well and going to plan. There are still a few issues that I am looking into.

LOGistICAL - United Kingdom (L-UK)

L:BI is the replacement game for L-UK. L-UK was implemented after the achievement cap so I was unable to add any achievements to it.
More details: http://steamcommunity.com/gid/103582791457096964/announcements/detail/1437063363257325464

L:BI and LOGistICAL share the same game save files. In theory that means that you can play any of the LOGistICAL games and modules from either install. Once L:BI is released all updates will occur simultaneously on both games.
I intend this to work for all upcoming modules, including LOGistICAL: Earth. ie They will be released as full games.

Steam has connected L:BI to L-UK. Therefore when L:BI is release (due date 8th Aug), all owners of L-UK should get L:BI in their library.

L:BI beta on LOGistICAL (335)

L:BI should theoretically be available and playable for all L-UK owners in the current LOGistICAL beta.
I encourage you to try it out, but start the game with a copy of your original as you can't go backwards, as there are additional towns, roads and contracts (not that you will likely need to).
Beta also shares the same game save file with the Live version, so no gameplay will be lost.

Oh, I forgot to mention... there are a bunch of updates in this build which includes the ability to deliver cargo to completed towns. This sorts the issue out for those that want to upgrade all industries to 100% but end up running out of places to deliver it.

To play beta, right click on LOGistICAL in your Steam library. Select properies, betas tab and select "beta" from the drop down list. There is no password required. Click close and the beta version should install. I should only be a small "difference" install from your current LOGistICAL installation.

LOGistICAL - United Kingdom

LOGistICAL expands to include the United Kingdom.

This module consists of 4 new countries (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), with over 1,800 new towns to complete.

The road system needs a lot of upgrading if you are to take your trucks all over these countries, so a lot of road repair deliveries will be required.

Plenty of industries to upgrade and new challenges.

This new module also brings a new build for the current LOGistICAL and all the DLCs addressing lag and freeze issues. Getting UK DLC is not required for this update.

LOGistICAL - Canada

Edit: Steam publishing is offline over the weekend, so Canada won't be available until 10th July 2017.

Canada is huge. 2nd biggest country on this planet.
Bigger than Australia but many parts not as accessible.
That being said, it will take a lot of travel to play this country.

Canada back story

Welcome to Canada. The second largest country on the planet.

Canada is cut in two after a long cold winter. East to west.

The road at Thunder Bay has been cut off and repairs are under way.
It has been said "There are only two seasons around here. Winter and construction. It is now construction season."

Only long large loaded trucks can get through (ie 40t laden). Smaller trucks can make it though without a load (unladen).

Follow the 40t road to find a truck depot and move the resources east to west and west to east via the storage facilities.

Money will be tight, but you may find some gems around the map.

Get out there and get these towns fixed.

Updates

Most of the updates for this latest patch are based around optimising speed and trying to reduce slowdowns.

The groundwork is done and more updates will follow after game stability.
Back Story
The annual flooding of the Nile has occurred (Wafaa El-Nil). There is a two weeks holiday for all... except you.

Supplies need to get from the main coastal towns and delivered upstream to the flood isolated towns. Fresh water is need from the Aswan dam to those affected downsteam.

Due to dense population the towns are huge and their needs are high. You may want to build up your industries before you do the towns.

You can build industries where possible and create "Storage Depots" where necessary.

The towns need you so get to work.

...
The towns in Egypt have dense populations. This means that most of the towns are very large. You may want to increase the size of the industries in order to be able to supply these towns/cities.

Egypt is an independent game that you can play at the same time as the main LOGistICAL game (and other add-ons). It has its own money, trucks and of course, challenges. So once installed and tutorial played, you can start playing this pack.

LOGistICAL grows in Europe with the addition of Germany.

Over 2600 New towns to Complete. Tons of achievements.

Back Story

A Large Chemical Spill in the Stuttgart region has created chaos. A full quarantine of ALL products in and out of the Stuttgart region has been put into place. Over 100 towns are within the affected zone. We can get you into the area so you can fix the towns within the zone, and you can move your empty trucks in and out. Small industries have been setup for each type of product within the zone.

It is up to you to build industries outside the zone to deliver to the rest of the country.

If you can get the industries inside the zone to a level 3 then you can build similar industries throughout the rest of Germany, depending on the available natural resources and any local government restrictions.

The towns need you so get to work.

LOGistICAL - Hawaii

Hawaii DLC for LOGistICAL is now available in the Steam store.

Get 30% off the Hawaii DLC for the first week. You can also get an additional 15% off if you purchase it though a bundle.

The Hawaii DLC starts out nice and easy and is great for the beginner as industries slowly unfold.

Get boats to link to the other islands. Only small 8t trucks can fit on the boats.

There are plenty of towns to do from easy to medium level. Upgrade all the industries for extra achievements.

Hawaii pack can be played independently to the other LOGistICAL packs. Once you have completed the tutorial you can start playing Hawaii. You can play Hawaii at the same time as playing Australia or any other DLC (if you haven't already completed them).

You start with your own new bank account, a bit of cash and a supplied vehicle. You do the rest.

There are lots of easy towns to complete and some tougher ones, for those that like that extra challenge.

Relax, enjoy and play away.

LOGistICAL - California

California DLC for LOGistICAL is now available in the Steam store.

Get 30% off the California DLC for the first week. You can also get an additional 15% off if you purchase it though a bundle.

The pack will take you throughout California from forest to farmland to desert to coastline to major cities. Many places you may have heard of, now you will know where they are located.

California pack can be played independently to the other LOGistICAL packs. Once you have completed the tutorial you can start playing California. You can play California at the same time as playing Australia or any other DLC (if you haven't already completed them).

You start with your own new bank account, a bit of cash and a supplied vehicle. You do the rest.

There are lots of easy towns to complete and some tougher ones, for those that like that extra challenge.

There are limits on the amount of trucks that you can own (8x8t, 6x20t, 2x40t).

Some of those larger towns can be accomplished easier if you build up your power-ups on those larger trucks.

Californians are happy for you to build industries where ever you like (dependent on landscape and environment), though they would like you to keep them to a moderate size.

There are lots to do and many achievements to collect for finishing towns, fixing roads and upgrading original industries. Not all achievements have been created yet but they will still be awarded to you once they are.

Relax, enjoy and play away.

LOGistICAL - Netherlands

The Netherlands DLC for LOGistICAL is now available in the Steam store.

The pack will take you through the countryside of the Netherlands of tulip fields and windmills.

The Netherlands pack can be played independently to the other LOGistICAL packs. Once you have completed the tutorial you can start playing Netherlands. You can play the Netherlands at the same time as playing Australia or New Zealand (if you haven't already completed them).

You start with your own new bank account, a bit of cash and a supplied vehicle. You do the rest.

There are lots of easy towns to complete and some tougher ones, for those that like that extra challenge.

There are limits on the amount of trucks that you can own (8x8t, 3x20t, 2x40t).

Some of those larger towns can be accomplished easier if you build up your power-ups on those larger trucks.

Netherlands are happy for you to build industries where ever you like (dependent on landscape and environment), though they would like you to keep them to a moderate size.

Not every industry is available as a natural resource, so you may have to look at the shipping ports to assist you. The Dutch have a strong history of trading.

There are lots to do and many achievements to collect for finishing towns, fixing roads and upgrading original industries. Not all achievements have been created yet but they will still be awarded to you once they are.

Relax, enjoy and play away.

LOGistICAL - New Zealand

New Zealand DLC for ANZAC Day 25th April 2017

It is a public holiday for New Zealand and Australia on the 25th of April, so in celebration I am working hard to get the New Zealand DLC release out on ANZAC day.

It will sell for 1.99 plus a 30% launch discount.

There are over 130 towns to complete and a new industry.

There are various levels of difficulty across two islands. There are plenty of easy towns and some are really tough (at least for me).

There are also some new rules, so it is a good idea to read the contract that pops up with the DLC, like how to actually get across the ocean.

New Zealand will allow you to take some of your own trucks that you have from Australia, though there are the usual restrictions on what fits on a ship.
You can buy some more trucks in New Zealand, but their shops work a little differently. There is no endless supply so pimp up what you already have.

Quarantine laws are very strict between the two countries. They are vaguely listed on the contract as well.

There are some more rules, so make sure you read it all.

Enjoy the new challenges.

LOGistICAL

LOGistICAL is a large open-world, strategy, puzzle game where you transport different cargoes to complete all the towns throughout the country.

The whole game is a huge puzzle while each town is its own little piece of puzzling. There are over 1,000 towns to complete.
Plenty of towns are easy enough. Some take complex planning. Do them in your own order. Get bonuses for completing regions and contracts.
Some cargoes are easy to get. Others you have to create in industries. Use existing industries and build your own.
The further you get from the start the more strategies you have to use.
Pimp up your trucks with bonuses. Last truck delivering gets the bonus.
The towns and map are to scale. Current or historical industry placement. You could even say that playing is educational.

There Is Plenty More to Keep You On Your toes.

Towns consume the cargoes you are trying to get to completion.Big trucks are great for moving lots of stuff, but can't travel everywhere.
There are lots of broken roads that need deliveries.
Upgrade the industries for better exponential throughput.
Cargo stores can sure come in handy.
What! I can't take my big trucks across the water on a ferry.
... and what is with those quarantine checkpoints?

Complete towns, roads, industries, contracts, regions and states for lots of in-game and Steam achievements.

LOGistICAL's base game covers the whole of Australia including all the major cities, towns and industries. Start in Sydney and work your way through the different regions and states. Eventually covering coast to coast with the most difficult being across the sea to Tasmania.

LOGistICAL (and all LOGistICAL modules) also include many built in FREE modules:

* Flinders Island (simple tutorial)
* Isle of Man
* Xmas 2017 (LOGistICAL across the entire planet)

Understanding the LOGistICAL Games

LOGistICAL is a fairly large game that now covers over 20 modules, each with their own play style and strategies to complete.
Beginners should all do the tutorial and then also complete the Isle of Man which is a freebie available with all modules.

All the modules were to be DLCs of the original LOGistICAL, but due to an introduced cap on the amount of Steam Achievements any single game could have, the newer modules have been released as standalones. These standalone modules do not require the original LOGistICAL to play.

All modules link together by the Save Game file, so it is best not to start "new" games when playing additional modules. Just continue playing from your current save game.
Any module that you play can be launched from any module that you own. Achievements that are earned in a module that you didn't launch from will be "popped" the next time you launch the module that they belong to.
You can play multiple modules at once, but only do this from a single game launch. Click the mini-globe in the bottom right hand corner of the map screen to bring up the main globe and you can select another module by clicking on any green country that you own to play simultaneously.
Each module will continue to play at their own module speed within the background.
You can switch between the modules by either clicking a town on the map from that module, or clicking any of the flags near the mini-globe.
The number of modules you play simultaneously is dependent on your PC and your own play style.

Press F2 within the game to see the full list of all the modules you have as well as your completion statistics and the the High Scores tables.
Click on the module rows to drill into the regions and towns.

Modules, from beginner to expert...

It is very difficult to gauge where most of these modules should sit in difficulty.Longer modules do not always mean they are more difficult.

% Flinders Island, AU

Flinders Island, AU, sits between mainland Australia and Tasmania. Flinders Island is a small tutorial that introduces you to the basic game play and should be the place to begin LOGistICAL.

% Isle of Man

The Isle of Man comes free with every module and was once a starting point for the entire game. With only 28 towns to complete and a reduced supply chain, it is highly recommended to complete before you do the larger modules.

* Hawaii

Hawaii is split into 4 main islands with the industries spread across the islands and the only access is by transporting your 8t or lighter trucks by ferry between them. Thought and planning will make for a nice quick solution, but still many, many hours worth.

* Netherlands

The Netherlands is a country small in size but large in game play. There are lots of towns to compete with none that are too difficult to accomplish. There are lots of local industries that require upgrade, so you can plan a nice logistical solution to that.

Oregon, USA

Oregon is a small state with a small population. There are some puzzling around the supply chain to enable you to get to level 3 industries, but once you are through that then there is lots of towns to complete.

Wisconsin, USA

Wisconsin has a lot of towns covering a wide variety of sizes. Wisconsin adds 27 new industries and resources. Within those resources are new restrictions including resources that can only be moved by larger trucks.

Chile

Chile is an interesting shaped country spanning over 5,000 km north to south but only hundreds across the width. Chile has desert in the north through jungle and down to ice.
The entire journey is broken up into a small tight road that requires multiple ferry trips for your smaller trucks. Once established you can then grow the new section of country.

South Africa

South Africa is a moderate sized module which includes 3 countries with the addition of Lesotho and Swaziland. These extra countries introduce quarantine difficulties.

% Xmas 2017

Xmas 2017 is both a small and large module that is my Xmas gift to all the LOGistICAL players. It can be played from any module.
Xmas 2017 covers all the different countries of the globe with over 200 towns (cities/countries) to complete. Each town has the population of the country and also has from 8 to 12 resources to complete. The gameplay of Xmas 2017 is very different in that there is no town consumption. This means that you can fill the resources of a town as quickly or as slowly as you wish, in what ever order you like without the worry that the town will gobble up what you have already delivered.
The large amount of resources and the size of the towns make this a very long process for completion. Once you have delivery chains and cycles setup you can keep it running in the background while playing other modules or AFK.

Switzerland

Switzerland is a huge amount of towns in a very small place. It is also a complex structure with huge mountains splitting the country into many sections. There is a very large and long series of highways and tunnels to build with a collection of large trucks gifted along the way to help. The industries in Switzerland are huge and will require many resources to upgrade them. There are also a few quarantine areas.

Japan

Japan is spread over many islands. Starting in the north there are many small roads to be repaired. Once this is done and you have established a good road link to the south, it is then a matter of finding the key industries and getting the rest of the islands complete. Japan spreads a long way south covering many smaller islands requiring more puzzling and planning.

* Germany

Stuttgart is in trouble and the entire city and surrounding area is quarantined. You must build up the Stuttgart area and then puzzle your way out of the quarantine zone to then establish your own industries. There are thousands of town, both small and large to complete this module.

Australia

Australia is the original starting module and provides a nice long upward learning curve.
There are many puzzles including quarantine and industry building. Each state within the country offers new challenges.

New York, USA

Although this module offers all the regular puzzles like the others, New York firstly wants you to upgrade their road system to accommodate all your trucks. Over 95% of all the roads are broken giving you a multi level road building maze to unravel even before you get to do many towns.

British Isles

The British Isles is a large module covering many countries including England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Island, Ireland and the Channel Islands. There is a quarantine point across to Ireland and many large cities to complete. Most of the towns are very close together and with a bit of planning you can complete many towns quickly.

Florida, USA

Florida has an interesting layout with most of the towns spanning both the east and west coasts. There are multiple quarantine areas including the Keys area.

Norway

Norway begins easily enough but there is lots of maneuvering throughout the fjords with plenty of road puzzles to sort out. Going north you will find a quarantine spot and it gets difficult past the point with limited building allocations.

* California, USA

California covers a large section of the west coast of the USA. You will find many familiar towns once you start exploring. Start in the north and make your way south and you are suddenly confronted with a huge amount of very large towns to compete. Careful planning and you will soon have lots of your own industries built.

Italy

Italy is a quarantine puzzle module splitting the country in two but giving you both ends to work with until you can establish some of the key level 3 industries to break out of the confined puzzle and be able to build upon both sides.

* Canada

The country is split in two with only 40t trucks able to pass the center quarantine area. This makes it a difficult module to get industries to level 3 so you can build them on the other side. There is lots of planning to do for this one. Follow the 40t roadway to find your truck depot.

* Egypt

You start with a very tight budget and it is very difficult to find a good foothold to get started. You start at Aswan and make your way up the Nile to Cairo. Each area getting more difficult as you progress. Once you do manage to get established you have to continue to watch your budget and there are some very tough towns to complete the module.

* New Zealand

New Zealand is a restrictive module where you can't build industries and can only buy a limited amount of trucks, which you can sell and buy back fully boosted. You can also bring in an additional four trucks from Australia. There are a few tough towns at the end but they can be all competed with perseverance.

Russia

Russia is a huge module with nearly 6,000 towns to solve and is often done as a long term project. The size of the country is so huge that it covers two continents.
Russia introduces air transport. This requires new strategies and there are parts of Russia that can only be done with air transport.
Russia has many puzzle areas including a "breakout" start area, multiple quarantine areas and a many other strategic puzzle areas along the way to completion.

% Included with every module.
* DLC that requires LOGistICAL main module (Australia).

Most of the LOGistICAL in-game achievements have been copied to Steam Achievements.

This will allow players to see how they are faring compared to other Steam players, their friends and find these towns that are really tough to do.
